Darcy Millette is an artist who lives and works in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Millette earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South Dakota. She is the co-owner of Millette Studio, a collaborative workspace and studio for painting, ceramic, and woodworking.
Darcy Millette creates mixed media paintings that consider our human relationship with nature and the concept of spiritual transitioning. Using layers of drawing and painting Darcy develops nuanced surfaces that depict archways or ceremonial-like scenes containing florals, creatures, human figures and abstractions. Darcy is an avid gardener and finds that working with nature teaches about struggle, growth, and reciprocity.
Millette is also involved in public art projects. She has been collaborating with South Dakota based artists, Amber Hansen and Reyna Hernandez. Together as a team they facilitate, design, and execute large scale public murals. These murals are created by engaging the community over storytelling, drawing, poetry, and participation in the painting process.
